Accused Harasser Inquired: 'However Suppose I Am Madeleine?'
A individual charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court learned communication data and information obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still unsolved.
'I Do Not Need Money'
A separate phone message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I know."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that significant for you?"
"I do not need money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.
The jury was advised that via emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who collated the evidence, told the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On that date, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."
That day Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.
Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be considered genuine in the time preceding the visit to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.
The court heard correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, discussing endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a eating establishment.
"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the trip to their home, the defendant sent a communication which said: "We find ourselves sitting adjacent to the McCanns' residence with our lights out resembling detectives. I desired to do this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The proceedings continues.
