Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, football enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this excellent morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Action
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Additional Week 10 Games
Additionally, the full slate starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
