Dominant Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.
The twenty-seven-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Season of Dominance
Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Statistics
Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic £11m in prize money.
She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
