Former Treasury Secretary Summers Steps Down from AI Company's Directors
One-time economic leader Lawrence Summers is exiting the governing body at the artificial intelligence firm, just a week after a batch of digital correspondence between him and deceased financier the accused trafficker became publicly available.
Summers commented in a statement that he was "grateful for the privilege to have participated, optimistic about the prospects of the company, and anticipate following their progress".
The former Harvard president, who formerly headed the prestigious university, stated on Monday that he would be withdrawing from public commitments due to his connections with Epstein.

The freshly disclosed messages revealed that the official communicated with Epstein until the eve of the financier's 2019 apprehension for alleged trafficking of underage individuals.
In a separate statement, the technology organization stated it accepted his decision to step down.

This development follows after the entire Congress of the US legislature agreed on this week to approve a measure that would compel the federal prosecutors to make public its records on Epstein.

Following Summers' announcement on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank in DC where he was a researcher, verified that Summers was no longer associated with the group.
