Homages Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order issued a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the killings, public personalities expressed varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative claims that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser ought to have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
