The Opening Game Pass Additions of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.
Everywhere you go, fans keep sounding the funeral bells for Microsoft's gaming division. Xbox was recently outsold by a platform few have heard of. Platform-specific outlets are now publishing content on PS5 topics unprecedentedly. The past year represented a period of total upheaval for the Xbox ecosystem. But if we're going solely off the titles headed to the service in 2026, it is apparent that Xbox continues to plan to engage players with compelling titles on its key platform.
The Available Now Titles
The duo of games currently accessible as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's deserving of attention.
Major Titles on the Horizon
Starting January 13th, Game Pass will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that refreshes the standard Ubisoft formula with an intergalactic heist adventure. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "a superb mixture of terror and combat."
Intriguing Niche Additions
Yet, the less-hyped additions set to join the catalog are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, becomes available next week — and you should try it whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.
The game set in a ruined Britain from last year might get its hooks in you in about 15 minutes flat.
Atomfall, a game blending infiltration and resource management by the developers behind Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Ultimate tier members also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Solid, Curated Lineup
All in all, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, and they are also not tentpole Microsoft studios games that are the sole reason for the service alone. But Microsoft's additions here are very dependable. The lineup provides a solid mix of old games you might have missed and relatively recent releases that lacked the recognition they warranted upon launch — which makes them ideal prospects to find a new audience on Game Pass.
Be prepared to bid farewell to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, as it happens.
