The President Calls Relatives of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Event
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their memory.
White House Call
The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Public Support
Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”
Service details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Government Revisions
Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident led the administration to suspend asylum processing and cease granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
